Mugla is the ideal destination for those who want everything at once. It is one of the many ancient cities of the Caria region,
today Aegean region of Turkey. The most beautiful holiday resorts of Bodrum, Marmaris, Datca, Köycegiz and many others are all
within the borders of Mugla province. In ancient times in Anatolia, the region between the Menderes (Meander) and Dalaman (Indus)
rivers in the south was called Caria. The inhabitants were Carians and Leleges. In his Iliad, Homer describes the Carians as natives
of Anatolia, defending their country against Greeks in joint campaigns in collaboration with the Trojans. The original name of Mugla
is open for discussion. Various sources refer to the city as Mogola, Mobella or Mobolia.In Hellenistic and Imperial times it was a
rather insignificant settlement in the part of the Rhodian Peraea which was subject to Rhodes but not incorporated in the Rhodian
state, and was called under the Carian name of Mobolla. There are almost no ruins to enlighten the history of the settlement of Mugla.
On the high hill to the north of the city, the presence of some insignificant ancient remains indicate that an acropolis was located
here. Two inscriptions unearthed within the city are from the 2nd century B.C., attesting to the Rhodian domination. Mugla is the

These 100 to 300 years old houses with red tiled roofs, beaked chimneys and ornate doors are made of wood and stone in what is
called Turkish and Greek styles. They differ in the amount of wood and stone used in their construction and their arrangement in
either of two styles called ‘intravert’ and ‘extravert’. The walls are whitewashed and covered with green foliage. The red, white
and green colors seem to blend harmoniously and with the peculiar construction make the houses look very attractive. Other things
to see are the Ottoman style market, the 1495 A.D. Kursunlu Cami mosque and the museum, which has a good collection of artifacts
and 9 million years old animal and plant fossils. In Mugla you will perhaps get the entire rich Turkish cuisine. The variety is
stunning and endless, especially of the vegetable preparations and pastries. Some of them are tarhana (soup with dried yoghurt),
dovme kofte (battered meatball), uzum koftesi (grape rissole) and aubergine and marrow jam. You should try as many as possible.
Mugla is famous for its carpets, pile less carpets and forged copper handicrafts of Milas, Bodrum and Yatagan districts. You
can carry them as souvenirs. The beach resorts of Mugla are popular tourist destinations. Therefore plenty of hotels inns,
boarding house and lodges are available to suit all classes. You can also choose to stay in one of the holiday villages,
guesthouses or hotels that provide quality service and comfortable stay. Some of the well-known ones are the Elegance
