The small village of Beli Iskar is situated in Rila mountain, just 8 km
north-west of Borovets, Bulgaria's most famous ski resort. The bigger town
of Samokov is around 5 km from the village.
Now the village provides everything needed from the tourists, who barely
knew the site just few years ago.
There is a tourist information center in the village and most of the locals
are giving rooms for rent. Most of the houses also offer small mehanas on
their ground floor. Thus visitors will have the chance to taste the famous
“Rilski zelnik” (special kind of banitsa). This small village
surprises with the great enthusiast of the locals.
Two great events shake Beli Iskar duing the summer. These are the famous
Rock in Rila festival and the Holiday of the Rila Zelnik! Beli Iskar has
population of 775 people. The village is 1200 m. above the Sea level. Has
shops, bar, also cable TV with 20 local and international channels.
